A hallmark is a set of component marks applied to articles of the precious metals gold, silver, platinum or palladium.
It means that the article has been independently tested.
It guarantees that the item conforms to all legal standards of purity (fineness).
It guarantees provenance by telling us where and when the piece was hallmarked, what the article is made from, and who sent the article for hallmarking.
The Hallmark on Emma Farquharson’s jewellery is a guarantee of the quality of the metal used in each individual silver, gold or platinum piece.
Emma Farquharson’s hallmark features the initials ‘E F’ which are located within a double shield shape. Her hallmark is registered at the Goldsmiths Company assay office in St. Pauls, central London.
